Clothes



The cloths and garments are made of quality cotton. The dresses are made by the hands of the women in Siguiri, Mali and Kankani in Guinea. Other manufacturers are the Groupe Benko from Yendenin near Gueckedou and the Groupe des femmes de Kalum, the women of Conakry.

Handmade Cloths

These cloths are dyed using the traditional method and real indigo dye. The cloths are used as skirts, shirts and scarves. The size varies, the smallest one being 1,15m x 1,5m. The leppi-cloths are also woven by hand.

Against the light the pattern of the cloth becomes visible.

The cloths here are hand-woven, -dyed and -painted. The pictures tell stories of the life in rural Guinea. The cloths dyed with the color extracted from the Djedje-tree are used often in ceremonies. The bark of this tree is collected after performing certain rituals and is also used as medicine. The size of the clothes is about 1,4m x 2m.

Visitors are offered water when they first arrive.

Nomads move with the cattle. They sell the milk in villages.
